Project Overview

Ojo de Guirre is a Tenerife-based photography service run by a passionate photographer who captures the diverse beauty of the island. Specializing in a wide array of photography styles, including landscape, portrait, food photography, and photojournalism, Ojo de Guirre sought to encapsulate the essence of Tenerife in its brand. The photographer’s clear vision was to incorporate a “Guirre” – a bird emblematic of the Canary Islands – into the logo.

Challenges

Creating the logo for “Ojo de Guirre” presented a significant challenge: crafting a design that was unmistakably representative of the ‘Guirre’ while retaining the simplicity necessary for a versatile logo mark. Too many details would not only detract from the logo’s clarity, especially at smaller sizes, but also risk losing its effectiveness across various applications.

Process

Client Briefing: A focused discussion to capture the unique style of “Ojo de Guirre Fotografía” and the significance of the ‘Guirre’ in the logo.

Research and Conceptualization: Explored various representations of the ‘Guirre’, balancing between realism and simplicity. Reviewed existing photography logos to ensure a unique market position.

Sketching and Digital Refinement: Iterative sketching to distill the ‘Guirre’ into a clear, scalable logo mark. Progressed to digital prototypes, refining the design for optimal balance and visual appeal.

Finalization: Chose color schemes and typography that complemented the finalized logo, ensuring a cohesive brand identity for “Ojo de Guirre.”

Logo Concept

The logo for “Ojo de Guirre Fotografía” is a minimalistic representation of the ‘Guirre’, a bird symbolic of the Canary Islands. This design captures the essence of the photographer’s work, which ranges from landscape to portrait photography. The logo’s clean lines and sharp angles reflect the photographer’s focus on precision and elegance.

While minimal in design, it remains distinctive and recognizable, embodying the brand’s professional and versatile approach. This logo stands out in Tenerife’s dynamic photography scene, offering a memorable and unique brand symbol.

Brand Colors

Volcanic Rock (Black): This deep, rich black mirrors Tenerife’s volcanic landscape, symbolizing strength and sophistication. It lends a professional and elegant touch to the brand, embodying the clarity and depth of the photography.

White Sand (White): This clean, crisp white offers clarity and simplicity, complementing the vivid imagery in the photography. It brings a sense of purity and minimalism to the overall design.

Sun Yellow: A bright and energetic hue, Sun Yellow infuses the palette with creativity and vibrancy and is used as a highlight color e.g. icons.

Together, these colors create a balanced and versatile palette that is both timeless and expressive, underlining the diverse and dynamic spirit of “Ojo de Guirre”.
